Health Day: Sit Smart for a Healthy Body -Tyre campus

With the steady rise of digital technology, sitting has become the most common posture in our daily routine. People are spending most of their time using electronic devices to a degree unprecedented in prior generations. Most desk workers spend an average of 10 hours a day in front of a computer, which leaves no time for physical activity throughout the day. It might also encourage bad eating habits.

As sitting for long hours can be extremely detrimental to one’s health, the School of Arts and Sciences: Department of Computer Science and Information technology, Biomedical Science Department, Nutrition and dietetics department organized an activity on April 25th at 12:30 p.m. The aim of this activity is to spread awareness in terms of posture, body movement,sporting culture through aerobic sessions that combat “sitting disease”, as well as the appropriate eating habits.

The event included a series of talks delivered by Dr. Hassan Abdallah (Head of the Orthopaedic department at Cheaib Hospital), Mrs Bouthaina Aidibi(Clinical Dietitian and Food service manager at Hiram Hospital) and Mrs. Dania Antar (Certified personal trainer and Nutritional coach). Brochures are distributed during the event to give tips on how to maintain good health. The event was sponsored by Profit07 gym. Tombola rounds ended the event.
