OVERVIEW

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University is committed to the understanding and creation of new knowledge for the betterment of society. This is accomplished through the education of undergraduate and graduate students and through research. The faculty encompasses various programs of study that aim to prepare students with genuine comprehension, critical thinking skills and qualifications to enable them to face future challenges. The faculty offers undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor's degrees in Arts (B.A.) and in Sciences (B.Sc.), as well as graduate education leading to Master's degrees and Doctors of Philosophy degrees in most fields. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission of New Students:
To be eligible for admission, a student candidate must:

1. Hold the Lebanese Baccalaureate Part II or its equivalent as specified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
2. Demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency in English as specified under admission requirements in the university catalogue.
3. Pass an entrance exam specific to the department.

Admission of Transfer Students:
To be eligible for credit transfer, a student candidate must adhere to the following conditions:

1. Satisfy the university admission requirements concerning the English language as indicated in the university catalogue.
2. Transfer credits will only be granted for courses comparable in content to university courses that have been successfully completed with a C grade (70.0 – 73.3 %)*.
3. The maximum number of transferable credits is 45 credit hours.
4. Transfer students should meet the residency requirement which is a minimum of three regular semesters (excluding summer semesters).
5. Students must submit official transcripts of record as well as the catalogues of the previously attended universities.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for graduation a student must:
1. Complete a minimum of 99 credit hours.
2. Attain a minimum cumulative average of C (70.0 – 73.3 % or 2.00)*.
3. Meet the residency requirements: a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years.
4. Satisfy the faculty policy regarding the adequacy of the student’s academic development and conduct.
